Ahmed Naji is a writer, journalist, art critic, and official criminal. Author of three novels, Rogers (2007), Using Life (2014), And Tigers to my Room (2020), and another non-fiction book (Rotten Evidence: Reading and writing in prison) English translation to be published by McSweeney's in 2023.

In 2016 Ahmed was sentenced to 2 years in prison after a reader complained that an excerpt from Using Life published in a literary journal harmed public morality.
